The Platform Project is a young enterprise scheme modelled on “The Apprentice” TV show, where young people develop confidence, employability skills & enterprise opportunities by undertaking a range of enterprise challenges that simulate setting up your own business.
Sadie launched The Platform Project in 2017, using her organisation design and entrepreneurial skills to re-imagine and evolve the way that youth development is delivered.
The project is run through a series of challenges that are delivered on Saturdays and during the school holidays, where teams of teenagers work through differently themed business scenarios to learn a range of new skills that are needed in business and the world of work in a “real” environment.
The innovative challenges provide hands-on experiences to young people at the same time as providing the local entrepreneurs and businesses that partner up to help run them with exposure and development opportunities.
The use of real business scenarios, working alongside real professionals, having real hands on experience has delivered astounding results with groups of young people that have been historically very difficult to engage.
“This is by far the best thing I’ve done – I can’t believe how much I learnt in a week!” Megan (13)
“Before this challenge I wasn’t very confident speaking to employers, but now
I feel like I know what they’re talking about.” Ryan (21)
“School doesn’t really work for me, but having tried a few different business roles,
I now feel like I have more options for my future.” Phoebe (15)
